Caroline Collaborates

I know that our collective brains and hearts can do better for our world. I’m passionate about working collaboratively to create change. I’m interested to tell new stories about gender, find new approaches to reduce inequalities, work for climate justice, and unpack systems and beliefs of prejudice.

Caroline Collaborates is a social change consultancy, which focuses as much on the how of progressive social change as it does on the what and the why.

I live on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, and pay my respects to elders past and present. It always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.

Our Collaborative Potential

Facilitation

My heart beats more strongly when you ask me to work with you as a facilitator. I am recognised, locally and internationally, for my ability to co-create a great container for your work. My approach is grounded in a belief in constructive, well-designed collective approaches that draw on robust evidence and pragmatism, guided by mindfulness, somatics, intersectional feminist analyses of power and gender norms, poetry and creativity.

Advocacy & Research, Policy and Impact

I believe in the power of evidence and people’s stories to drive social change. I have strong skills in feminist research, policy, and impact – most particularly in helping you to co-design a participatory feminist approach to your research, policy and impact (monitoring, evaluation and learning) frameworks. I am an excellent person to accompany you as you work with participants to collectively “sensemake” your data and turn learning into to strategy.
My advocacy heart has been beating strongly since my childhood. The lessons I’ve learnt along the way will support you in achieving your social change goals.

Feminist Leadership, Governance, and Strategy

What the world needs now is better leadership. Feminist inquiries into power, gender norms, and intersectional discrimination can help to profoundly shift personal and organisational leadership approaches, and offer new insights to governance and strategy. I draw on over 35 years of governance and executive experience, locally, nationally, and internationally, to help you ask new questions and create new approaches.

About Caroline

I am an experienced executive and practitioner with deep expertise in facilitation, policy advocacy and research, and organisational strategy and leadership. Most often, with a feminist intersectional twist.

I draw on over twenty-five years experience as a high-performing governance and management executive in the not-for-profit sector, and in feminist research and advocacy. I am a published author and have a doctorate in feminist economics and human rights.

You can find me at LinkedIn and I blog – very, very, very irregularly – meandering wonderings about the universe here. These are usually linked to insta, though if you hope for regularity there you will also likely be disappointed. I live in hope that I might write more regularly – there are words bubbling away around feminist governance, learning and reflection, and organisational development.

Recent Collaborations

Impact Frameworks, with an intersectional feminist participatory twist

Over the past couple of years it has been a deep pleasure to work with extraordinary activists as they have co-created feminist, participatory impact measurement frameworks. I accompany you to develop robust, participant-led approaches that debunk the idea that you need an “external expert” to tell you what happened as a result of your work. And I focus on supporting you to develop a culture which values turning learning in to strategy. Clients have included those with a focus on young women’s leadership; sexual and reproductive health and rights; and feminist philanthropy.

Strategy and Organisational Development, with that intersectional feminist participatory twist

Accompanying organisations to articulate the what, why and how of their work has been a key part of my work. This has taken the form of organisational strategies, theories of change, core principles, governance structures, and organisational practices. And through it all we have asked the question – what difference does it take to take an intersectional feminist, participatory approach?

The words: your writing doula

Sometimes you simply lack the time and headspace to turn your magnificent data into compelling communications products. I can work with you to develop tools, reports and blogs that will ensure your important social change insights make their way into the world.
