Dr Caroline Lambert has been contributing to social change for over 35 years, particularly in the area of gender equality.
Currently working in a range of paid and unpaid roles – as a consultant accompanying organisations to build learning and accountability cultures (MEL or Impact work), as a daughter accompanying her parents as they age, and as a board director with YWCA Australia.
Prior to this moment in time, she’s held senior leadership roles, as the Executive Director of the federation YWCA Australia, and the Director of Research, Policy and Advocacy at the International Women’s Development Agency.
She is a former Board Chair of Women’s Housing Victoria, former Vice President of Amnesty International Australia, Director of Arts Access Victoria, and member of the Victorian Foundation for the Survivors of Torture Research Ethics Committee.
In her current work she is interested to explore an intersectional feminist inquiry and transformation of power, in particular how organisations can create new tools to harness the idea of “power with” rather than “power over.” Caroline is passionate about finding ways to transform the stories we tell ourselves that perpetuate the idea that whole groups of people are less than other groups of people. This means we have to work individually and societally to unpack the ways we’ve been raised up and the ways we’ve been influenced by the “big stories” we tell about gender, race, class, sexual orientation, and disability.
She’s deeply curious about the tools we need to create to change the way we “gender” care work, because if we could do that then a lot of the feminist revolution would be achieved.
